Georgia Tech's tailgate is a block party: free for every fan, starting four hours before kickoff on Bobby Dodd Way at the north end of the stadium. About two and a half hours out, the team walks in through Yellow Jacket Alley with the band and the Ramblin' Reck. At the first Helluva Block Party in 2023, DJ Envy played from a stage at the west end, and the parent of a Tech player told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution it was "a more upscale experience." Fans came for food booths, ladderball and cornhole.

The lot answer

Georgia Tech tailgates in the open-air campus lots, and for free at the Helluva Block Party on Bobby Dodd Way at the north end of the stadium, first come. Single-game passes on ParkMobile cover the Tech Parkway Lot, about a quarter mile from the stadium, plus the AT&T decks, Tech Square and more, and the season lots come in off North Ave.

Where the party is

Tech tailgates in the middle of a city: lots and decks tucked between campus buildings, with the Atlanta skyline right there. The center of it all is the Helluva Block Party on Bobby Dodd Way at the north end of the stadium, free for every fan.

The main stage

The Helluva Block Party

Callaway Plaza, Bobby Dodd Way and the top of Peters Parking Deck, from 4 hours before kickoff: live music, food trucks, beer and wine, games and a limited number of free first-come tailgate spots.

The moment

Yellow Jacket Alley

About 2.5 hours out, the team arrives at Techwood Dr and Fourth St, walks south on Techwood and west on Bobby Dodd Way into the stadium behind the Ramblin' Reck and the band.

The lots

The campus lots and decks

Open at 7 a.m. Grills go in open-air lots, and nothing cooks in a deck.

What to eat

Grills are welcome in open-air lots, and the deep fryer stays home by request. The block party adds food trucks, ticket or not. Next door on North Avenue, The Varsity sold 10,093 hot dogs for a single 2012 game against Boston College, the AJC reported, and a regular said he always eats there before the game, not after.

Getting out

Downtown traffic doesn't care who won. Your options, best first:

  1. Take MARTA. North Avenue station is about three blocks east on North Ave.
  2. Ride the shuttle back. The Purple and Gold routes run back to McCamish, the Student Center and Area 2.
  3. Rideshare from Tech Parkway. The pickup zone is on Tech Parkway off North Ave.
  4. Skip this

Pull out of a deck at the final whistle. You and everyone else on that level.

First time here?

  • Campus lots open at 7 a.m. No overnight stays.
  • Buy single-game parking ahead on ParkMobile. Season parking is sold out.
  • No cooking in parking decks, and leave the deep fryer at home.
  • Weights for the tent. Stakes aren't allowed.
  • Line Bobby Dodd Way for Yellow Jacket Alley, about 2.5 hours before kickoff.
  • Clear bag only: 12 x 12 x 6 inches or a 1-gallon freezer bag, plus a small clutch.

Visiting? How to join a tailgate

Start at the Helluva Block Party: it's free for every fan, and visiting ticket operations run out of the Fanning Center next door. Bring something to share and wait for a wave before you join a setup.
