At the 2021 opener, one family's brother-in-law was out by 6:30 a.m. to hold the spot near Doak where they've tailgated for years. At the 2026 Labor Day opener, an FSU alumnus in the RV lots told WCTV the draw is the togetherness: "Even the rival team, we let them hang with us too." It's burgers on the grill, cornhole by the tent and the tomahawk chop never far off. The free Fan Fest on Langford Green is open to everyone, with food trucks and kids' activities.

The lot answer

Florida State tailgates in the lots the Seminole Boosters run: Golden Chief Lots 2 to 8, 11 and 15 closest to Doak, many with assigned space numbers, and the priority lots, chosen in Booster priority order. Self-contained RVs park off Jackson Bluff Rd and Airport Dr, registered week by week, and oversized vehicles go to the lot at Gaines St and Woodward Ave.

Quick answers

What time do the lots open at Doak Campbell Stadium?

5 hours before kickoff, or noon, whichever is earlier. Booster lots have to be empty by 11:59 p.m. the night before, and cars left behind get towed.

Can you grill at FSU tailgates?

Yes. The Seminole Boosters allow cooking devices and tents as long as they don't crowd your neighbors, the next space or the travel lanes. Everything stays inside your 20 x 14-foot space.

Can you drink at FSU tailgates?

We couldn't find a current published rule on alcohol in the Booster lots. Inside Doak, alcohol is sold at concession stands until the end of the third quarter, and no outside alcohol comes in.

Do you need a ticket to tailgate?

The rules tie tailgating to parking, not tickets. All campus tailgating and parking on the game-day map is controlled by the Seminole Boosters and needs a permit.

How do you buy parking?

Through the Seminole Boosters. Season permits go to Booster donors who hold football season tickets, chosen in the spring, and the passes are digital. We found no single-game football parking on the Boosters page. Off campus, FSU's parking office points to the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center lot, RVs included.

Where to park

On game day the Seminole Boosters control every lot on the campus map, and each one takes a permit.

Golden Chief lots
Lots 2 to 8, 11 and 15, closest to Doak. Golden Chief donors and up, and many come with an assigned space number.
Priority lots
Lots 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17, 19 to 23 and 25 to 28, chosen in Booster priority order.
Motorhomes
Self-contained RVs only, for Booster members, registered week by week. The lots sit off Jackson Bluff Rd and Airport Dr.
Oversized
The Oversized Lot is at Gaines St and Woodward Ave. A vehicle that fills a regular space leaves no room to tailgate.
Accessible
By application through FSU Transportation and Parking Services. Disabled Parking Program holders park in the West Pensacola Garage, Lot 9.
Rideshare
The 2026 map marks pickup and drop-off on North Woodward Ave by Lot 29, and at Lake Bradford Rd and Jackson Bluff Rd.
Charter buses
Registered buses park from 4 hours out and leave within an hour after the game. Enter on Chieftan Way.

Come in on the side you park on. For lots west of Doak, take Stadium Dr. For lots east, take Pensacola St, or Macomb and Bronough Sts from the north. From the south, take Lake Bradford Rd.
Police can run the signals near the stadium up to 6 hours before kickoff. FAMU also plays at home on Oct. 31, so expect heavier traffic around both campuses that day.
No Booster permit? The Donald L. Tucker Civic Center lot is the off-campus option FSU's parking office lists. The 2026 map also marks Seminole Shuttle stops at several lots and on Chieftan Way.

Where the party is

Doak is a permit town on Saturdays. The Boosters run every lot on the game-day map, so the whole scene is sorted by lot number before you even park.

Getting out

Tallahassee turns a few streets one way after the game, and delays run until about an hour after it ends. Your options:

  1. Know the one-ways. Pensacola St east of the stadium runs one way east, and St. Augustine and W. Madison Sts run one way east toward Apalachee Pkwy.
  2. Mind the turn bans. No northbound traffic on Springhill and Lake Bradford Rd from Levy Ave to Gaines St, and no southbound traffic on Stadium Dr from Tennessee St.
  3. Rideshare from a marked zone. The 2026 map marks pickup on North Woodward Ave by Lot 29 and at Lake Bradford Rd and Jackson Bluff Rd.
  4. Skip this

Pull out at the final whistle. The delays clear about an hour after the game. Your 20 x 14 feet is a fine place to wait.
