7:30 a.m. on game days. RV areas open at 5:30 p.m. the Friday before a home game, and RVs can stay until 10 a.m. Sunday.
Can you grill at Texas Tech tailgates?
Texas Tech's 2026 football parking guidelines don't post a grill rule. They do say your setup has to stay inside your space and keep drive lanes clear, so check your pass terms and the lot signs.
Can you drink at Texas Tech tailgates?
The 2026 parking guidelines don't post a lot alcohol rule. Raider Alley sells beer and wine, and no alcohol can be brought into Galaxy Stadium, where beer and wine are sold at select stands.
Do you need a ticket to tailgate at Texas Tech?
Not for Raider Alley, which is open to the public 4 hours before kickoff. Lot tailgating runs on parking passes, and the free lots near the Health Sciences Center don't allow tailgating at all.
How do you buy parking at Texas Tech?
Reserved lots are Red Raider Club season parking. S-1 and the USA lot sell single games ahead of time or on arrival, card only, and RaiderPark is advance purchase only. The free lots near Texas Tech Parkway are first come.

Where to park
Close-in lots are Red Raider Club season passes. Everyone else picks a paid lot, a free lot or the shuttle.
- Red Raider Club
- Lettered lots A through Q around the stadium, sold by membership level. Some use assigned spaces, so park in the one on your pass.
- S-1
- Paid cars and RVs, season or single game. Buy ahead or on arrival, card only. Citibus runs from here.
- USA lot
- Paid car parking by United Supermarkets Arena, ahead or on arrival, card only, with Citibus service.
- RaiderPark
- Garage parking for cars and RVs, advance purchase only. Not sold at the gate on game day.
- Free lots
- Northwest of the Health Sciences Center near Texas Tech Parkway and 5th Street, first come. Tailgating isn't allowed here.
- Accessible
- Free ADA parking north of the Health Sciences Center off 5th Street and Joliet Avenue, placard required, with a shuttle to Gate 3.
Wes Kittley Drive of Champions closes to cars 3 hours before kickoff and reopens about an hour after the game. 8th Street stays open from University Avenue.
Pass holders should follow the directions on the back of the pass, not the phone.
No car? Citibus runs Park & Ride shuttles from 3 hours before kickoff until 15 minutes after, and back until an hour after the game. Pay in the GoPass app. Rideshare drop-off and pickup is on Flint Avenue or Akron Avenue, each about a 5-minute walk to Gate 1.

Texas Tech keeps the lot rules short. The space rule is the one to plan around.
- Your space
- Tailgate only inside the space your permit covers. Nothing in neighboring spaces or drive lanes.
- Tents
- Up to 10 x 10 feet, and it has to fit completely inside one parking space.
- Grills
- No grill rule in Texas Tech's 2026 parking guidelines. Check your pass terms and the lot signs.
- Alcohol
- No lot rule posted. None into Galaxy Stadium; beer and wine are sold inside at select stands.
- RVs
- Assigned spaces, except S-1 Area Reserved RV. Be considerate with generators.
- Not allowed
- Tailgating in the free Health Sciences Center lots. Throwing anything inside the stadium, tortillas included, gets you ejected.
- Bags at the gate
- Clear, up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a 1-gallon freezer bag, plus a small clutch about the size of a hand.
- Gates open
- 90 minutes before kickoff, 2 hours for student, club and suite gates. No re-entry.

Where the party is
Lubbock's pregame has a center of gravity: Raider Alley, in the Engineering Key in the middle of campus, where the school has thrown a pregame party since 1994. The lettered lots ring the stadium, and the tailgate stays inside your own space.
The open door

Free and open 4 hours before kickoff in the Engineering Key, with a concert, food and beer and wine for sale. Citibus runs a separate Raider Alley bus from three of its lots.

Lots A, B and C
The Red Raider Club lots right beside the stadium, A and B to the west and C to the east.
The overnight crowd
The RV areas
They open at 5:30 p.m. the Friday before and stay until 10 a.m. Sunday. S-1 has unassigned RV spaces, and RaiderPark sells RV spots ahead.
What to eat
Raider Alley in the Engineering Key sells food and drinks before every home game. For a sit-down meal, Visit Lubbock's 2026 football-weekend guide points to Dirk's, which serves fried chicken and displays artwork by Lubbock cartoonist Dirk West, whose mustached cartoon figure inspired the Raider Red mascot, and to Bier Haus near campus, famous for its prickly pear margarita.
Getting out
Lubbock clears fastest if you leave the way you came in. Your options, best first:
- Ride Citibus back. Return buses load at the north entrance of Galaxy Stadium any time after kickoff, until an hour after the game.
- Rideshare from Flint or Akron. Meet your driver at the same zone you were dropped at. Expect a wait right after the game.
- Let the Drive of Champions reopen. It stays closed until about an hour after the game. Hang at your space and let the lots empty.
Skip this
Trust the phone's route. Police and traffic control set the routes after games. Follow them instead.
First time here?
- The Raider Walk, when players walk to the stadium as fans cheer them on, comes a little over two hours before the game, Visit Lubbock says.
