Tailgating at H.A. Chapman Stadium

Tulsa plays in a 30,000-seat stadium that rarely fills, with little but fast food in walking distance, so the university built the whole pregame onto one lawn: Chapman Commons, the grass oval just west of the stadium. It's free, with a DJ, a beer garden, inflatables for the kids and a themed add-on most weeks, from an Oktoberfest stein hoist in 2025 to a Whataburger cornhole tournament in 2026, and you can reserve a spot and bring your own tent. Watch the team walk down 11th Street, which is also old Route 66. First time in Tulsa? Breakfast at Tally's on Yale, a pint at Kilkenny's on Cherry Street, and the Gathering Place riverfront park if you've brought kids.

The lot answer

The campus lots go to Golden Hurricane Champions Fund donors by level, and everyone else buys a limited single-game pass online. For the big in-state games, Tulsa has run free parking at the State Fairgrounds with a shuttle to campus.

For the Oklahoma State opener, Tulsa ran free parking at the Tulsa State Fairgrounds with a complimentary shuttle to 11th Street near Gate 1.
Chapman Commons is inside the Tucker Drive loop, west of the stadium and the Platinum Lot.

A neighborhood campus with streets on every side. Your options, best first:

  1. Ride the shuttle back. For the Oklahoma State opener, return shuttles to the fairgrounds left from Gates 1 and 7.
  2. Use the campus courtesy shuttles. Tulsa runs them around campus on game days.
  3. Take it slow. Let 8th and 11th Streets clear before you pull out.
