What it is

The ColdOne Pro from Coldbreak is a non-electric portable kegerator: a 20-quart cooler with a stainless tap tower that holds one 2-gallon keg, or 16 pints. Set the keg inside, pour a 10-pound bag of ice around it, and Coldbreak says it stays cold up to 5 days without adding more ice.

A 74-gram CO2 cartridge on the mini regulator pushes the pour, with no power needed. Coldbreak puts each cartridge at up to 7 gallons, and two come in the box with the keg, spear tool, drip mat, line cleaner and a cup. It pours beer, seltzer, cocktails or cold brew through food-safe stainless parts.

It weighs 15 lbs and stands 33 inches tall at the tap. Hand-built in Michigan, with a 180-day Coldbreak warranty.

Why we picked it

Draft beer in a parking lot, no generator.

Fill the 2-gallon keg, set it in the cooler and pour a bag of ice around it. Coldbreak says one bag keeps it cold up to 5 days without adding more.

A 74-gram CO2 cartridge on the tap tower pushes the pour. No power, no generator, no extension cord. Coldbreak says one cartridge pours up to 7 gallons.

Beer is the obvious one, but it pours seltzer, cocktails or cold brew just as well. Every part that touches the drink is food-safe stainless.

Coldbreak says it's made in Michigan.

How it works in the lot

Fill. Ice. Pour.

  1. Fill the keg.

Fill the 2-gallon keg with beer, seltzer or a batch cocktail. The spear threads out with the included tool.

  2. Ice it down.

Set the keg in the cooler and pour one 10-pound bag of ice around it.

  3. Gas it and pour.

Thread a 74-gram CO2 cartridge into the regulator on the tower, then open the tap.

Does a portable kegerator for tailgating need power?

Not this one. The ColdOne Pro runs on ice and a CO2 cartridge, so there's nothing to plug in.

How long does it stay cold?

Up to 5 days on one 10-pound bag of ice without adding more, according to Coldbreak.

What CO2 cartridge does it use?

74-gram threaded cartridges on the included mini regulator. Two come in the box, and Coldbreak says each one pours up to 7 gallons.

Care

Run draft line cleaner through the tap and keg after each keg, then a no-rinse sanitizer. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth.
