What it is

A lot that bans open flames still lets you bring hot food, if the heat doesn't come from a flame. That's why the Dubler HEAT earned a spot here: microwave its two heat packs at home before you leave, set them in, add pans hot from the oven and close the lids, and Revo says covered food stays hot enough to serve for up to 5 hours.

It takes two half-size pans up to 4 inches deep or four quarter-size pans. The pans aren't included; Revo sells half-size pan sets separately. When you need it cold instead, it's a regular Dubler: up to 24 cans or bottles on ice. Two clear dome lids let people see the pulled pork before they lift one, and three condiment trays and an ice scoop come with it. Revo says each heat pack is good for about 300 uses, and says the cooler is made in the USA.

HEAT, Dubler or Party Barge? Most people: the Dubler, drinks on one side and cold food on the other. Get the HEAT if the food you bring is hot. Get the Party Barge if it's all drinks for a big crew. Spare heat packs are sold separately.

How long do the heat packs last?

About 300 heats each, per Revo, if you stop microwaving when they start to swell. Overheating can make them leak, and Revo doesn't warranty that.

Care

Microwave the heat packs only until they start to swell (2–5 minutes, depending on your microwave). The trays go in the dishwasher; hand-wash the scoop.
