The best part of a Duck game for a visitor is the footbridge walk through Alton Baker Park, with "Go Ducks" passed between strangers the whole way. Start at Rennie's Landing on Kincaid, the bar closest to the footbridge, where the house drink is a lemonade. The lots by the stadium belong to donors, so a visitor's options are the walk, the private lots across the street, or a mall lot and the Autzen Express. One first-timer in 2025 called the crowd polite but rowdy and the stadium loud all game. Book dinner, because restaurants say sales double on game days, and the night before, Rally in the Alley at the 5th Street Public Market is the warmup.

The lot answer

Tailgating in the Autzen lots takes a pass, and those go by Duck Athletic Fund priority points. Next door, the Eugene Science Center, the Masonic Lodge, Emerald Valley BMX and the Boy Scouts each run a lot with its own passes and rules, and the Moshofsky Center is open to anyone with a game ticket.

Can't miss

  1. "Shout" after the third quarter Between the third and fourth quarters, Autzen plays the song from Animal House, which was filmed on Oregon's campus, and the whole stadium sings and dances.
  2. A Duck on a police motorcycle Right before kickoff, Oregon's mascot rides onto the field on the back of a police motorcycle, leading the team out.
  3. Pre's Rock The roadside memorial to Steve Prefontaine sits on Skyline Boulevard above town, where he died in 1975. Runners still leave their spikes and race bibs there. It's ten minutes up from campus; go Friday night or the morning of a late kick.
  4. Walking in over the Willamette Walk in from campus across the river and through Alton Baker Park. It's the walk-in people remember.

Quick answers

What time do the Autzen lots open?

6 hours before kickoff, and never before 7 a.m. A reserved parking pass is required to get in. The Science Center lots next door keep the same hours.

Can you grill at Autzen?

Athletics' current pages don't publish a grill rule for the Autzen lots, so check with your pass. In the Eugene Science Center lots, charcoal and wood are banned, and gas or propane grills go off the ground, 10 feet from buildings and plants.

Can you drink at Oregon tailgates?

Yes, in the lots, from 6 hours before kickoff until the game ends, under Eugene city code. Selling alcohol and serving minors are banned. Inside, beer and wine are sold, but not in student seating.

Do you need a ticket to tailgate?

You need a reserved parking pass to get into the Autzen lots. The Moshofsky Center pregame, from 3 hours before kickoff, is open to anyone with a ticket to that day's game.

How do you buy parking for a Ducks game?

Season passes go to Duck Athletic Fund donors by priority points, and the athletics site links to Ticketmaster for single-game passes. Nearby lots run by the Science Center, the Masonic Lodge and the Boy Scouts sell their own.

More for this lot

Late-season Eugene lots get wet, and in 2021 NBC16 covered an early-season game played under wildfire smoke. In a smoky September, check the air quality before you bring small kids.

Where the party is

Autzen sits across the Willamette from campus, on a lot complex that's reserved down to the space. So the pregame splits three ways: the reserved East Lot, the private lots next door, and the Moshofsky Center for anyone holding a ticket. Across the street, Essig Field has been the walk-up option in past seasons. In 2022 KEZI found a tailgate there with tents, live music, food vendors and a full-service bar, open to fans of all ages from four hours before kickoff. We couldn't find a 2026 listing, so check before you plan around it.

The reserved core

The East Lot

Red, Blue, Yellow and Green sections wrapped around PK Park and Papé Field, all season passes.

Ticket holders welcome

Moshofsky Center

Opens 3 hours before kickoff to anyone with a game ticket: yard games, inflatables, beer and wine, TVs for other games. The team comes through on the March to Victory.

The walk in

The Autzen Footbridge

Autzen sits about a quarter mile north of campus, across the river by footbridge. Riding? Check your bike at the Duck Pen by the bridge.

What to eat

The Boy Scouts run one of the lots next door (DuckParking.com). Back in 2017, Travel Oregon's tailgating guide said Troop 100 ran three lots across the street with the fees going to local youth charities, and its writer found giant sandwiches, hot appetizers, colorful desserts and grilling specialties like Ducks-themed burgers in one of them.

Getting out

Post-game traffic here starts building in the fourth quarter. Your options, best first:

  1. Walk back over the footbridge. Campus is about a quarter mile south across the river, and LTD runs from there.
  2. Take the Autzen Express. Return buses leave at halftime and for 60 minutes after the game, from your park-and-ride's spot on Leo Harris Pkwy.
  3. Wait it out in the lot. The Science Center lets you stay until traffic eases, about an hour after the game. Otherwise plan on 30 to 45 minutes of crawl.
