Quick answers
When can you set up a tailgate at Oklahoma State?
Tents, frames, chairs and markers can go up starting at noon the Friday before a Saturday game, first come. Campus tailgating and POSSE lots open at 8 a.m. Saturday, whatever the kickoff. For weekday games, OSU posts the times ahead.
Can you grill at Oklahoma State tailgates?
Yes. Gas and charcoal grills with covers are allowed; open flames aren't. No grilling under trees or on parking garage decks, and charcoal and ashes leave campus with you. Burn bans apply.
Can you drink at Oklahoma State tailgates?
It's 21 and over under Oklahoma law and OSU policy. No kegs, drink towers, beer bongs or open-source mixes unless a licensed, registered vendor serves them, no drinking games, and glass is discouraged.
Do you need a ticket to tailgate at Oklahoma State?
OSU's guide doesn't require one for the public campus tailgating areas, which are first come. POSSE lots take a POSSE permit, and a tailgate in a lot needs a permit for every space it uses.
How do you buy parking at Oklahoma State?
Close-in lots are POSSE donor parking for season ticket holders. Lots 120 and 124B are paid, bought online. Free public lots are first come, and a free shuttle runs from the downtown parking garage.

- By donor level for season ticket holders, open 8 a.m. on Saturdays and 3 p.m. for weeknight games.
- Paid
- Lots 124B and 120, bought online, first come. Lot 120 also takes limos and party buses with a POSSE permit.

- Accessible
- ADA parking with a shuttle in the Monroe Street garage, with a state placard. The shuttle starts 3 hours before kickoff and returns from the 4th quarter.
No vehicles on campus grass or sidewalks, ever. Trailers on tailgate lawns are placed by hand.
Athletic Avenue between Knoblock and Hester closes to cars before the game and reopens at halftime.
No car? The free shuttle runs from the downtown parking garage from 3 hours before kickoff until 30 minutes after it, then again from the 3rd quarter until at least 30 minutes after the game. Rideshare drops off at Hall of Fame Avenue near Duck Street.

- Register
- Tents over 625 square feet, groups over 75, trailers, outside caterers or common-source alcohol need an OSU tailgate tag.

September in Stillwater is hot on open lawn, and November brings wind. Pack shade early and layers late.
Where the party is
Stillwater tailgates on the lawns. The tent goes up Friday at noon on open campus grass, and on Saturday the team walks Hester Street through the crowd 2.5 hours before kickoff.
The lawns
Campus tailgating areas
Open campus grass marked on OSU's tailgate map, first come from noon Friday. Respect a claimed spot and don't move markers.
The moment
The Walk
The team walks Hester Street from the Atherton Hotel in the Student Union to the stadium, 2.5 hours before kickoff. Hester closes to cars for it.
The street
Athletic Avenue
Closed to cars before the game between Knoblock and Hester, with vendors and tailgate games, until halftime.
What to eat
Covered gas and charcoal grills are welcome on the lawns, so Stillwater tailgates cook, just not under the trees.
Getting out
Stillwater sets the traffic for you after the game. Your options, best first:
- Ride the shuttle back downtown. It runs from the 3rd quarter until at least 30 minutes after the game, or until the lines are gone.
- Stay at the tent. Tailgating can run until 10 p.m. or an hour after the game, whichever is later. Let the lots empty.
- Rideshare from Hall of Fame. Meet your driver at the Hall of Fame Avenue drop-off near Duck Street.
Skip this
Pull out at the final whistle. Along with every POSSE lot around you. Hall of Fame Avenue is restricted near the stadium, so give it time.
First time here?
- Tents go up at noon Friday. Saturday morning is for cooking.
- Lots and lawns open at 8 a.m. Saturday, no matter the kickoff.
- Weights, not stakes, in the lots. Sandbags and water jugs work.
- Bring a lidded can for ashes. They leave campus with you.
- Line Hester Street for The Walk, 2.5 hours before kickoff.
- Clear bag only: up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, plus a small clutch.
Visiting? How to join a tailgate
OSU's tailgate rules ban harassing anyone, visiting fans included. The public lawns are first come and social by layout, so walk them, bring something to share and wait for a wave before you step under a tent.
