What it is

For the crew that fills a whole row of the lot. Cordova rates the 65 at 65 cans plus ice, about 60 pounds of ice when it's full: one cooler for a section's worth of drinks. The tie-down channel across the lid is why it earned a spot here: one strap holds it in a truck bed, on a rack or on a trailer for the drive in.

It's rotomolded with what Cordova calls a freezer-grade seal. It's about 28 × 19 × 17 inches outside and weighs about 35 pounds empty. Cordova backs its hard coolers with a 5-year warranty when you register within 30 days. Six colors.

When not to buy it: 35 pounds empty plus 60 pounds of ice is a two-person carry. If you park far from your spot, get the Cordova 50 Outpost, which rolls. If your crew is six to eight, the Cordova 45 is a one-person lift. And for most crews, the Taiga 55 does the job for $50 less.

Why we picked it

One cooler for the whole crew's drinks.

Cordova rates it at 65 cans with ice and says it takes about 60 pounds of ice when filled. That's three 20-pound bags: the group's drinks in one box.

Rotomolded walls, thick insulation and what Cordova calls a freezer-grade seal keep the cold in. Recessed handles on both ends make it a clean two-person carry.

A 1.75-inch channel runs across the lid, so a strap holds it down in the truck bed or on a trailer. Cordova backs it for 5 years when you register it.

How it works in the lot

Ice it. Strap it. Serve it.

  1. Pack it full.

65 cans plus ice. Filled with ice alone it takes about 60 pounds, per Cordova.

  2. Strap it in the bed.

Run a strap through the 1.75-inch tie-down channel across the lid.

  3. Open the bar.

Flip the two latches and the whole crew's drinks are in one place.

  • 4 out of 5 stars. Excellent for Camping!

Excellent product! Everything stayed cold, the inside walls almost felt like a refrigerator! Camped two full days/three nights. High 80’s. This gets a 4 rather than a 5 in that I thought after reading it is still made in the USA and I understand it’s not. :relieved:. For that I am grateful I had the first purchase 15% off. As of now it is our only cooler not made here.

  • 5 out of 5 stars. Great Cooler

Cooler is not as heavy as I expected. Very Roomy inside. Once seen in person it's obviously very well built with quality materials and craftmanship. Slight rubbery odor that requires a good scrub to remove. Very happy, would buy again!

  • 5 out of 5 stars. Just buy it already!

Had this gem for approximately a year now. Like this cooler much better than the Yeti 65 we had. Holds ice for a long time, even when you have a heathen child like mine that opens it repeatedly. When it's full, it's pretty heavy. Which is to be expected. I purchased the Yonder color, which is beautiful in person. My only complaint is with the top being a lighter color and pitted, it has began to discolor already (from dirt etc). Rest assured my OCD self, washes and wipes it out every time it's used. I've also tried since the day I ordered the cooler to score a traction pad for the top & they NEVER have them in stock. Keep that in mind when buying the 88qt. This has easily became one of my favorite coolers, it ranks right up there with our Bison. If you're thinking about it, go for it. You won't be disappointed. Unless you're wanting a traction pad for it. haha :(
