What it is
A grill that fits on the tailgate and cooks for the crew in two rounds: the G22's two burners and 200 square inches of stainless grates, which Monument rates at about 10 burgers at a time. The lid is why it earned a spot here: Monument's Clearview window and a built-in thermometer let you check the burgers without lifting the lid in a windy lot.
It puts out 15,000 BTU, per Monument, and comes with a hose for a standard 20 lb propane tank; to run it on 1 lb cylinders, add Monument's 1 lb tank adapter. The lid locks shut for travel. It weighs 32 lbs, carries by the front handle and fits in a car trunk, according to Monument. Monument covers the burners for 8 years and most other parts for 2.
G22 or the 13742? For most people, the G22, for the window and the thermometer. Get the Monument 13742 if you'd rather keep the $30: same two burners, same cook. Check your stadium's fuel rule in our stadium guides before you pack it.
Got a 2-inch hitch? The HitchFire F-20 swings out behind the truck so the tailgate still opens.
Why we picked it
Watch the burgers cook without lifting the lid.
How it works in the lot
Tank. Knob. Burgers.
Hook up the tank.
The included hose runs to a 20 lb tank. Use 1 lb bottles with Monument's adapter.
Light it, preheat it.
Push and turn a knob. Monument says about 15 minutes, lid closed, gets it to 500°F.
Cook it, watch it.
Check the burgers through the lid window. Flip when they're ready, not when you're curious.
