Can't miss
- The Wagon Wheel When Kent State is the opponent, the teams play for a wooden wagon wheel. If it's that game, it's the one to see.
Quick answers
What time do the Akron tailgating lots open?
Lots 6, 8, 9, 10 and 72 open at 8 a.m. on game days. Every other campus lot opens 4 hours before kickoff. Akron can restrict tailgating for game time or weather.
Can you grill at Akron tailgates?
Yes, with a small gas grill in an open surface lot. Charcoal grills are banned anywhere on campus, and no grill of any kind is allowed in a parking deck.
Can you drink at Akron tailgates?
Akron's guidelines say alcohol on campus, including the parking areas, falls under Ohio law, so it's 21 and over. No outside alcohol goes into the stadium.
Do you need a ticket to tailgate at Akron?
Akron doesn't post a ticket rule for the lots. You need a ticket to get into InfoCision Stadium, and Akron asks fans to load tickets in a mobile wallet before arriving.
How do you buy parking at Akron?
Season ticket holders park in the lot printed on their pass, Lot 6 or Lots 8 and 9. Single-game buyers park in Lot 1, Lot 8 or Lot 36. Questions go to the ticket office at tickets@uakron.edu.

Where to park
Your lot depends on your ticket. Season passes print the lot; single-game buyers have three choices.
- Season pass
- Park in the lot shown on your pass: Lot 6, or Lots 8 and 9.
- Single game
- Lot 1 (the East Campus Parking Deck), Lot 8 or Lot 36. No grills in the deck.
- Early lots
- Lots 6, 8, 9, 10 and 72 open at 8 a.m. Everything else opens 4 hours before kickoff.
- From Route 8
- Take exit 1A, then Carroll St to the checkpoint near Carroll and Spicer. Lot 1 is right there.
- RV
- Overnight parking, RVs included, only in designated lots with UAkron Park's approval (330-972-7213).
You can't turn north onto Spicer St from Exchange St on game day. Coming up Exchange, go under Route 8 and come back on Fountain and Carroll.
Big days bring road closures across Akron, like the marathon on the UNLV game day. Akron told fans to skip downtown and use the Route 8 directions.
No car? Akron doesn't post a game day shuttle or rideshare zone.

Akron gets cold and gray by November. Pack a layer and a rain shell for the late games.
Where the party is
InfoCision sits on the east edge of campus with Route 8 right behind it, and the early lots hug the stadium on three sides. Gas grills and one space per car keep it tidy, and the free party on Vine Street gives the big games a front porch.
The free party
Party on Vine Street
Akron's free pregame tailgate party, with food trucks, yard games, music, Zippy and a beer garden. It ran before the home opener and the UNLV game in 2026.
The stadium lots
Lots 8, 9 and 10
The early lots right off Spicer St, open at 8 a.m. on game days. Lot 8 also sells single-game parking.
The west side
Lot 6
A season-pass lot beside the stadium on S. Union St, also open at 8 a.m. The ticket office and Gate 1 are at the southwest corner.
What to eat
Charcoal is out on Akron's campus, so this is a gas-grill tailgate. Food trucks show up at the Party on Vine Street when it runs.
Getting out
Route 8 sits right behind the stadium, which helps, and so does a little patience. Your options, best first:
- Use Route 8. Akron's own directions run fans in and out on Route 8 via the Carroll St exit, not downtown.
- Go the long way around Spicer. The no-left onto Spicer from Exchange applies on game day, so plan the Fountain St loop.
- Cut through downtown. Akron itself tells you not to on busy days. Listen to them.
First time here?
- Lots 6, 8, 9, 10 and 72 open at 8 a.m. The rest open 4 hours before kickoff.
- Gas grills only. Charcoal is banned on campus.
- One parking space per setup, and no saving spots.
- Single-game parking: Lot 1, Lot 8 or Lot 36.
- Gates open just 1 hour before kickoff. Clear bag only.
Visiting? How to join a tailgate
Single-game parking is open to anyone in Lots 1, 8 and 36, and Lot 8 sits in the middle of the early tailgate lots. Walk over in your colors with something to share and say hello before you step into a setup.
