What time can you start tailgating at Troy?
Tailgating, including tents, can start at 7 a.m. on game day unless Troy announces otherwise, and the time can shift for early games. RVs can arrive at 5 p.m. the day before.
Can you grill at Troy tailgates?
Yes. Small, portable, single-unit propane and charcoal grills are allowed. The person running the grill handles it safely and cleans up the ash, and hot coals can't go on the ground.
Can you drink at Troy tailgates?
Fans 21 and over can drink at tailgates under Alabama law. Alcohol stays in the designated tailgating areas, glass is discouraged, and outside alcohol can't go into Veterans Memorial Stadium. Beer is sold inside until the end of the third quarter.
Do you need a ticket to tailgate at Troy?
Troy doesn't post a ticket rule for tailgating, and its guidelines welcome visiting fans. Every designated game-day lot needs a valid parking permit.
How do you buy parking at Troy?
On-campus game-day lots go to Trojan Warrior Club members by giving level. Anyone can buy single-game parking in Lot 5 through Troy's football ticket page.

Where to park
Every on-campus lot is Trojan Warrior Club parking, assigned by giving. Lot 5 is the one place to buy a single game.
- Single game
- Lot 5 (Malone Hall), sold on Troy's football ticket page.
- Donor lots
- Lot 1 (Stadium Tower), Lots 1A, 2, 2B, 3 and 4, and the North End Zone lot, by Trojan Warrior Club level.
- RV
- Trojan Arena lot, reserved through Troy Athletics. Overflow RV parking is first come in the lower Wallace lot.
- Accessible
- Troy University Rec Center lot, with a state handicap tag. Enter from John M. Long Drive.
- Drop-offs
- Not allowed in designated game-day lots. Arrange supply drop-offs with Troy staff.
- Golf carts
- Roads only, licensed drivers, no more riders than seats. Park them next to the NPHC Plaza.
George Wallace Drive closes 2 hours before kickoff until 1 hour after the game, from International Blvd to John M. Long Drive.
National Guard Armory and North End Zone pass holders can still get in during the closure, but only from the north end of George Wallace Drive.
No car? Free game day shuttles run from local motels every 15 minutes or so, from 3 hours before kickoff, to the Alumni House on Highland Avenue, with a downtown stop on the Troy Square. Return trips run for 1 hour after the game.

Troy's 2026 guidelines are about being a good neighbor. Here's what changes your packing list.
- Grills
- Small, portable, single-unit propane or charcoal. Hot coals never go on the ground, and ashes go in the containers.
- Alcohol
- 21 and over, kept in designated tailgating areas. Glass is discouraged. No outside alcohol in the stadium.
- Tents
- Up to 12 x 20 feet without written permission, first come, first served. Inflatables and enclosed tents need approval.
- Sound
- Keep it family friendly and point speakers into your own setup. No live bands or DJs unless Troy provides them.
- When it ends
- Tailgating can continue during the game. Gear and tents come out within 1 hour after it ends.
- Not allowed
- Weapons, drugs and smoking: Troy is a weapon-free, drug-free and smoke-free campus.
- Bags at the gate
- New for 2026: clear, up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a 1-gallon clear bag, plus a clutch up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches.
- Gates open
- 90 minutes before kickoff. No pass outs, and no folding chairs or coolers inside.

Troy's game day centers on Tailgate Terrace, the lawn behind the Riddle-Pace Field outfield wall at the south end of The Vet, with a free concert, food trucks, a beer garden and a kids zone. For 2026, you don't even have to pack up at kickoff.

The team starts at University Avenue and George Wallace Drive, walks through the brick portal into Tailgate Terrace and enters at Gate 1, about 2 hours 15 minutes before kickoff.

What to eat
Small propane and charcoal grills are both allowed, and food trucks line University Avenue around Tailgate Terrace.
Getting out
George Wallace Drive stays closed for an hour after the game, and US 231 is the way out of town. Your options, best first:
- Ride the shuttle back. Return shuttles to the motels leave from the Alumni House on Highland Avenue for 1 hour after the game.
- Stay put for an hour. You have 1 hour to pack up, and George Wallace Drive reopens about then anyway.
- Use the north end of George Wallace. Armory and North End Zone pass holders come and go from the downtown side, not US 231.
