The 2026 Tailgating Gift Guide

Gifts for the one who's in the lot before the sun's up: the one to start with this year, a pick for whoever hosts and whoever parks a mile out, and three kits that give the whole tailgate in one cart.

The best tailgating gift is the one thing they keep borrowing from somebody else. Watch a lot for one Saturday and you'll see it: the opener that gets passed down the row, the cooler somebody else hauled in, the table everybody sets their plate on. For one person, start with the Taiga 27, $199: 24 cans, fits a trunk, doubles as a seat, USA-molded with a limited lifetime warranty, Taiga says. Order by Dec. 8 if it's going under the tree.

By who you're buying for

  • The one who's always asking who has an opener, under $25: our opener and shotgun tool, $7.99. It clips to their keys, so the question is answered for good.
  • The one who parks a mile out, $149: the Tailgate Trekker, our own backpack cooler. Eighteen cans with ice on padded straps, both hands free for the chairs. It's the one we carry to games, and the opener and a koozie come in the box.
  • The one whose spot the whole row ends up at, about $170: Revo's Dubler Party Cooler: drinks on ice on one side, a half-size pan of food on the other, so the bar and the food stop fighting over the one folding table.
  • The cornhole crew, $140: the Scorezit scorekeeper set, a stand at each board, with the score on one. It ends the argument about who's up.
  • The one who brings the hot food, about $200: the Dubler HEAT, which keeps pans hot on microwave heat packs instead of a flame. That matters in a lot that bans open fire.
  • The one who cooks, $199: the Monument G22, a two-burner grill that fits on a tailgate, with a lid window so they can check the burgers without lifting it.

Give the whole Saturday

If you want to give the whole thing, there are three carts in our tailgate setups: the Grill Captain, the Host and the Whole Lot. Fair warning: the boxes show up from different brands on different days, so order early.

If you know their stadium, that lot's stadium guide has the pack list. That's the gift that actually gets used.

What we'd skip

Anything that only works at home: a grill too heavy to carry from the car, a speaker that needs an outlet, a cooler with no handle that two people have to lift. The good tailgate gift is the one that comes back out every Saturday.
